Tom Yum is one of the most famous Thai dish. It’s a subtle blend of hot and sour with citrus overtones derived from lime juice and kaffir lime peel. It can be made with chicken, pork, fish, mixed sea food or even “ruammitr” (mixing all possible ingredients together), but variation with shrimp (or Tom Yum Goong in Thai language) must be one of the best known Thai dishes abroad.

The words “tom yam” are derived from two Thai words. Tom refers to the boiling process, while yam refers to a Thai spicy and sour salad. Indeed, tom yum is characterized by its distinct hot and sour flavors, with fragrant spices and herbs generously used in the broth. The basic broth is made of stock and fresh ingredients such as lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves, galangal, lime juice, fish sauce, and crushed chili peppers.

Prepare prawns (400g), straw or white mushrooms (200g), water (3 cups), chopped cilantro, chilies (optional), Lobo 2in1 Tom Yum Paste with Creamed Coconut (1 packet)

Fish, mussel, scallop, squid, chicken or any other seafood or meats.

Submerge the packet in hot water for 1 minute. Cut open, the paste will come out easily.
